Best Vegan Brunch in London: Cafés, Restaurants, and Weekend Planning

Short answer: For an easy all-vegan brunch in central London, start with Mildreds or book Tendril in Mayfair if you want a more polished weekend meal. The Gallery Café is a relaxed, affordable Bethnal Green option, while Unity Diner is the pick for a hearty Sunday carvery. The Gate is plant-based rather than strictly vegan, so ask about the vegan menu when booking.

Best short list: Mildreds for several central locations, Kin Café for a central plant-based breakfast, Gallery Café for an entirely vegan café menu, Unity Diner for Sunday roast-style comfort food, Tendril for a book-ahead Mayfair brunch, and The Fields Beneath for a casual vegan café breakfast. Menus, hours and locations are time-sensitive; I checked the linked official pages on 25 October 2026.

What you’ll find in this guide

Compare brunch formats by vegan status, neighbourhood and service window; match a venue to your route; plan bookings and backups; and check allergy and cross-contact questions before you leave.

Best vegan brunch spots in London

London brunch is not one fixed meal. Some restaurants run a named weekend brunch menu; others serve an all-day breakfast, lunch menu or Sunday roast that works better for a late-morning booking. I have separated fully vegan businesses from plant-first restaurants so you can choose with confidence.

Mildreds: the easiest central all-vegan choice

Mildreds describes itself as a vegan restaurant group and currently lists locations in Camden, Covent Garden, King’s Cross, Soho and Victoria. Its official location pages include breakfast and weekend-brunch menus, and Victoria is a particularly useful choice if you are arriving by rail. The sample brunch dishes include tofu-based versions of a full English and a meze-style plate with hummus, spinach, peppers, potatoes and pita.

Good for: groups, visitors who want central branches, and a menu with familiar brunch formats. Plan: book through the location page, especially for Saturday or Sunday lunch. Check the exact branch menu before travelling because menus and prices can differ.

Kin Café, Fitzrovia: central plant-based breakfast

Kin Café is at 22 Foley Street, close to Oxford Circus. Its official page lists weekday service from 8:30am to 4:30pm and Saturday-Sunday service from 9:30am to 4:30pm, with plant-based dishes such as porridge, açai bowls and lentil soup. It is a useful central option when you want a café-style breakfast or early brunch rather than a long Sunday service.

The Gallery Café at St Margaret’s House says it is 100% plant-based and serves breakfast and lunch daily, with homemade sweets and locally ground coffee. The official page lists the address as 21 Old Ford Road, Bethnal Green, E2 9PL, and says it is open Tuesday to Sunday, 8:30am to 4pm. This is a strong choice when you want an entirely vegan kitchen and a low-pressure café setting rather than cocktails or a long tasting menu.

Expect café-style plates such as tofu scramble, a vegan full English, pancakes or a breakfast quesadilla to appear as the menu changes. Confirm the current menu and last kitchen orders before setting out.

Unity Diner, Spitalfields: best for a hearty Sunday

Unity Diner is a 100% vegan restaurant in Spitalfields. Its official FAQ says it is open Tuesday to Saturday from 12pm to 10pm and Sunday from 12pm to 8pm, with a vegan Sunday carvery. The carvery is a better fit for a late Sunday lunch than an early breakfast, but it belongs on a brunch weekend itinerary if your priority is a substantial roast-style plate.

Good for: comfort food, groups and anyone who wants a fully vegan menu. Plan: book ahead for the Sunday carvery; the restaurant specifically recommends booking for weekends. Ask about gluten-free or nut-free needs when reserving.

Tendril, Mayfair: book ahead for a more polished brunch

Tendril describes its kitchen as plant-first and mostly vegan, not fully vegan. Its current menu page lists weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm, with vegan and vegetarian choices. The restaurant says menus are seasonal and can accommodate gluten-free, nut-free and allium-free requirements when told in advance, while also warning that it cannot guarantee dishes are free from traces.

Good for: a special occasion, a planned Mayfair stop or diners who want vegetable-led cooking. Plan: reserve, state that you need a fully vegan meal, and recheck the sample menu because dishes change.

The Gate: plant-based dining with vegan choices

The Gate has locations including Hammersmith and describes its cooking as imaginative plant-based cuisine. It is not a fully vegan restaurant, so do not assume every dish is vegan. Use the official menu and booking pages, tell the team about your requirements, and ask which dishes are vegan on the date you visit.

The Fields Beneath, Kentish Town: casual café brunch

The Fields Beneath says it removed animal products from its menu in 2017. Its current site lists Kentish Town hours as Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4pm, Saturday 8am to 5pm and Sunday 9am to 4pm. This is a practical coffee-and-breakfast stop rather than a formal brunch booking, with a useful north London location near other cafés and shops.

Club Mexicana: check the current site before making a special trip

Club Mexicana is a plant-based Mexican concept with current sites listed at Mayfair and Boxhall City. It is a good lead for tacos and Mexican-inspired plates, but its site does not promise a daily brunch service at every location. Check the live venue page and menu before travelling, particularly if you are looking for a named brunch menu rather than lunch.

How to plan a vegan brunch in London

Match the venue to your route

For central sightseeing, Mildreds Soho, Covent Garden, King’s Cross or Victoria reduces detours. For east London, combine Gallery Café or Unity Diner with Bethnal Green, Shoreditch or Spitalfields plans. Mayfair works well with Tendril but is less forgiving of a last-minute table.

Book the right service, not just the right restaurant

Check whether you are booking breakfast, a named weekend brunch, Sunday lunch or a carvery. A venue may be open in the morning but serve a different menu later. Save the official menu and reservation page before leaving, then confirm if your visit is several weeks away.

Allow time for a backup

London tables can disappear quickly on sunny weekends. Save one nearby café and one supermarket or bakery option. If you are travelling with a group, ask everyone to choose a first and second option before you set off.

Allergies, gluten-free needs and cross-contact

Vegan and allergy-safe are not the same thing. Tell the venue about allergies when booking and again when seated. Ask about shared fryers, bread, sauces, desserts, nuts, sesame and oat or soya milk handling. Tendril explicitly says it works with dietary requirements but cannot guarantee zero traces; similar limits may apply elsewhere.

Useful script: “I need a fully vegan meal, and I have an allergy to ____. Which dishes can you prepare without cross-contact, and is the fryer shared?” If the answer is uncertain, use your backup venue.

Choose by neighbourhood

Area Start with Why it works
Central / West End Mildreds or Tendril Good for theatre, museums, shopping and rail connections
Bethnal Green / East London Gallery Café or Unity Diner Strong fully vegan choices and easy pairing with an east London day
North London The Fields Beneath Casual all-vegan café breakfast in Kentish Town
Mayfair / City Tendril or Club Mexicana Useful when your itinerary is already in central London; check service times

What to order when the menu changes

Look for tofu scramble, vegan sausage, mushrooms, beans, avocado toast, pancakes, potato sides, hummus, seasonal vegetables and clearly labelled plant-based desserts. Ask whether bread, spreads, sauces and drinks are vegan rather than assuming a dish is safe from its name.

Is London good for vegan brunch?

Yes. The city has fully vegan cafés and restaurants alongside plant-first venues with a dedicated vegan menu. The main challenge is not finding one possible plate; it is matching service hours, location, booking demand and allergy handling to your day. A little pre-planning makes the experience much easier.
